Question
I would like to take in the sites of the Norfolk/Williamburg/Hampton Roads area, and was wondering what the major highways were in the area.

Are these highways easy to orient through for a first-time visitor? Which highways have shopping malls?

Answer
Hi Kari,
All three areas are off Rt 64. Norfolk and Hampton are a 10 minute drive from each other. Williamsburg is approximately 15-20 minutes from Hampton. 64 is a large expressway, 65MPH and the ride from Williamsburg to Norfolk is about 45 minutes. It's a very easy road to travel. You will pass Jamestown, Yorktown. Newport, News and Hampton. Hampton and Norfolk are connected by a bridge/tunnel. You should have no problem finding any sites. There are many signs on the highway directing you to all the attractions.  Norfolk's major mall is the Mac Arthur Mall. It contains many of the standard mall stores and some upscale shops. Williamsburg is the shopping mecca. The outlets are incredible. There are 4 major malls. Williamsburg pottery, Williamsburg Outlet, the Berkley Outlet Mall and the Patriots Mall. I generally spend the day at the Patriot Mall(Lenox, Ralph Lauren, Dansk,Donna Karan, West Point etc,) and the Berkely Mall (0ver 100 brand name stores). Berkeley and Patriot are 2 minutes from one another. You can really shop till you drop. Hope this helps!
