Visual Basic - visual basic 6.0 and data report

Question i have following tables in my database
master-containing all account no
transaction2007-containing account no with debit nad credit
transaction2006-same as above
transaction2008-same as above
i want to generate data report that shud display the detials from transaction table wen user enter the particular year it shud display detail of that year.
dont want to use union of all the tables
is it possible to do grouping in data report
1.A-main account
.a.AC
.*.AC1001
.*.AC1002
b.AE
*.AE1001
2.E-second main account
a.EA
*.EA1001
only ac1001,ac1002,Ea1001,ae1001 are only present in transaction table.
plz help me with the grouping in above mentioned way in data report and data environment in visual basic 6.0
Answer from your description it is not clear about the design of your tables. if you are filtering on dates why not change the design of the table to include a year field?
in such cases i cannot give you a specific suggestion unless i see the design of tables and type of data.
