Expert: Ron Wolff Date: 3/2/2007 Subject: 1979 Conv. Beetle. Orignal?
Question Is there any way to find out how a car was equipped from the factory. I am trying to restore to original but don't know if the interior color and seat fabric/vinyl pattern are the original style. The car is white with a poorly done interior replacement of spray painted seat covers, floor covering, and spray painted door panels. Also, was the Karmann emblem only on applied to the right side or am I missing one on the left?
Answer Hi,
The Karmann emblem was usually on the right side only, under the fuel door.
As to the interior, feel free to e-mail me at

I have a 1978 with white interior and will be glad to send you photos of it's original 'look'.
