Expert: Ron Wolff Date: 12/12/2007 Subject: 78 Westy Reverse Lights
Question Hi, My Westy has had no reverse lights for over a year now. Not a daily driver.... I haven't done a lot of looking around, doesn't seem to be a fuse, I read a question about an early 70's beetle that had a this problem. You mentioned that it could be the switch on the shift linkage, or a fuse near the coil. Are these possibilities on a 78 westy? where would I look to find them? Thanks, Nate
Answer Hi Nate,
There is a fuse that goes from the + of the coil in the engine compartment to a black 'twist off' fuse holder.
This is probably your culprit. Sometimes, even the wire comes loose.
Check these two things out, and let me know how you do.
