Expert: Ron Wolff Date: 2/28/2007 Subject: 96 Cabrio Ignition problem?
Question Recently started having trouble in the mornings with ABS lights and Check Engine Light. A few weeks past and the headlights will flicker and then cut off along with the A/C fan motor. Have tracked it down to the pigtail that plugs into the ignition switch. When the wires are wiggled the problems occur. Just wondering what you think. Is it the switch itself or the wiring? Any input helps-Thanks
Answer Hi,
It seems like the problem is where it actually plugs in. If you are able to reach in and unplug that wire (with the battery disconnected), spray it with some contact cleaner.
After that, plug it firmly in and your problem should be solved.
