Question Does VW make a convertible Beetle with a diesel engine? If not, why?
Answer Hi Linda,
The new beetles can be purchased with a diesel engine. However, the old ones were never produced with such a motor.
The most likley cause is that there was not enough room in the engine compartment to put a diesel engine, and the cylinders are holizontally opposed, which would make it hard to get good fuel coverage.
