Question Hello, I've got a 2005 golf TDI, and found that when driving on a highway, the clutch becomes very loose, loose enough to feel uneasy about driving the car. but when I slow down and drive in the city for a bit, it tightens up again and seems normal. is it a fluid thing, or is the transmission going (only ~40K miles!). THanks so much for your help
Answer Hi John,
This is simply a clutch slave cylinder issue. It either needs to be bled or replaced.
Fear not, your clutch is OK.
Get a Golf manual and it will show you how to bleed it, and if the condition does not drastically improve, you may just need to replace the cylinder.
Either way, this is not difficult to do, but too many steps to detail here.
