Hey there, check your cold start valve, mine went bad and leaked fuel so when it was warm it would idle high.

CA cars with 1.9 l FI engine ( I own one) it needs to be 5 degrees atc to pass smog.  I usually keep mine at 7.5 btc, until I have to take in for smog check, then I reset it to 5 deg atc, idle speed should be 875 (plus or minus 75 rpm) no matter what the timing. I had a similar problem a few years ago, and the cause turned out to be the sensor II on the cylinder head. Check resistance: approx. 1.5 k ohms cold (at room temp, a new one measured 1.65 k ohms) and greater than 250 ohms when hot. If out of this range.. replace it.

Also check the rotor and cap.. when they get hot, sometimes the resistance in the rotor will increase quite a bit.
