Question where is the fuel filter located in a 79 super beetle conv, fuel injected? the car also always has a loud whine coming from directly in front of the dashboard. Is this the fuel pump making noise, and causing the car to buck?
Answer Hi Tara,
The fuel filter is located under the front of the car by the gas tank. It is a white square box. That is also where the fuel pump is located.
If the filter is clogged, it will cause the pump to whine, and the car to buck.

If, after replacing the filter, you still have bucking and that whining sound, I would troubleshoot the fuel pump.
