Question I recently bought a 2001 golf (manual) from a friend and when I was reading the manual it said that it should have an EPC light that will come on when the car is started and then go out. The light will also come on if my car has a fault. Thsi light does not flash up on my car when I start it up. I asked my friend and he sad that he has never seen EPC and he bought the car brand new. Do only certain models have this feature or is mine broken and if so do I need to get it fixed.
Thanks
Answer Hi Eloise;
The EPC light stands for "electronic powertrain control." This would ONLY apply if you had an automatic transmission. Congratulations on the 5-speed manual. They have FAR fewer problems. You don't have an EPC light on your car, which is the way it was built. Hope this helps Eloise. Enjoy your Golf.
