Question
I just bought a 2001 VW Cabrio 2.0 5speed the 12 volt power source (cigarette lighter outlet) does not work. I check the fuse and it is fine. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Jim;
It sounds like someone may have installed an aftermarket stereo, and went for the easiest power source to get their hands on.  Take the console, and the lower dash out, and follow the wires.  They will probably still be there, but look for evidence of "scotchlock," quick connectors...they tear through the insulation, and sometimes even cut the wire inside.  Hope this helps.  Good luck, Jim.
