Question
Yesterday stereo worked fine.  Turned off stereo before going to full service car wash and went to turn on after with no power.  All other dash lights, etc work.  I thought maybe water somehow got into fuse panel, but seems unlikely.  Is there a fuse that I can pull out and plug back in like the Jetta's or do I need to replace just the fuse and if so which one would it be?  This is the factory installed monsoon stereo.  Note: there has been a quiet clicking noise coming from the left side (fuse panel?) side for a few weeks now. Is still doing it, maybe related to stereo problem? Thanks for your help.

Answer
All VW factory radios have a similar problem. The Beetles Jettas, Passats can be reset if the radio is pulled out and the fuse on the back is removed. Wait for 2 Minutes reinsert fuse and turn the radio on. (pulling out the radio requires a radio removal tool to un lock the locks on the right and left side) If this doesn't work then there may be another problem and power and ground need to be checked at the radio. If this is good then the radio is bad. If you do get the radio removed and the radio reset then it may ask for a safe code. WRITE DOWN THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RADIO. Send me the number and your vin# and I can help you unlock it. Good luck.
