I have a 1999 VW Jetta, the plastic piece you pull out to release the hood completely has broken. I was researching where I could purchase this assembly, not having much luck. Do you have any suggestions other than a dealership?

I am unfamiliar with the newer VW assembly. However, the older Rabbits and Golfs had similar problems with the hood release. I know of no after-market parts being available, and would be leery about finding and using a used one, as the problem could be as common in the newer vehicles as in the older. I think a dealership is your only solution. Good luck
