Volkswagen Repair - mk3 golf door wiring

Expert: Rick O. - 12/31/2008

Question
hi,not sure if you will be able to help with this but I have a mk3 golf 1.4 cl, i am currently overhauling its audio, however i have come up against a problem, the car never had any rear door speakers and so no wiring running to them, i know how to runthe wiring to the door, however, the wires already running into the door run through some kind of electric connector between the door andthe pillar, i ampretty sure you canadd more wires to the connector but unclear as to how and if you actually can.

thanks for any reply

david

Answer
David,
If there were any pre-existing connections, they may be to the rear deck instead of the doors.  You may want to check from within the trunk for existing connectors.   Otherwise, you'll need to run new wires into the doors, into the door pillars and down under the carpet to the dash.
Rick
