Question
I have a 2000 VW Jetta.  One of the indicator lights came on - it is a circle with 3 dots or markings on each side.  I contacted my VW dealer and they said it was my brake pad indicator.  I do not have my owners manual.  I took my car to my machanic and he said my brakes and brake pads are fine.  Did the VW dealer give me the correct information?  If so, why would this light come on?

Answer
Hi Linsay;
There are, or rather there is a brake pad wear indicator on the drivers front wheel.  It means that the thickness of your pads is only 1.5, to 2.0 mm thickness, probably less now, if you've been driving. Any way, you ned front pads...at least.
