Question This is a follow-up to a previous question. You previously advised me that my CEL resulting in a P1136 diagnostic code was likely my turbo failing. What will happen if I don't get it fixed? Will I just lack the typical performance? Or will it result in total engine failure. The lights been reset and hasn't come on in some time. Of course I haven't been pushing it or driving the way I used too. Anymore insight?
Answer Hi Steve;
The turbo should continue to work for some time. It certainly won't be as efficient as it once was, but it should last a while. The best advice I gave was to clean up the crankcase. Keep the oil as clean as possible. These engines are not going to fail, and implode, or explode simply because the turbo isn't working at top efficiency. You should be OK for some little while. Hope this helps a bit. Thanks.
