Question Greetings, I have a 2002 Passat with 109,000 miles on it. Over Memorial Day weekend, my blinkers would do two or three "blinks" in either direction and then shut off. The next day they stopped working completely. The emergency light on the dash works with an extra click between binks, which I assume means that something is wrong. I replaced the fuse, even though I really didn't think it was blown. Obviously that didn't help bc it wasn't the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Answer You will need to replace the emergency flasher switch in the center console, upper, of the dash. The turn signals, and the emergency flashers use the circuitry inside the emergency flasher unit to control both systems. This should cure your problem. I would take it to your local, best Volkswagen dealer, and let them replace it, otherwise you might crack, or otherwise damage some of the surrounding interior trim. I hope this helps you, Coral.
