Volkswagons do cost more to repair than most other cars. I asked the service manager why, and he told me they are in the same "class" as Ferraris and Lamborghinis and all those expensive cars. They are considered "exotic." i bought mine three months ago, and the windshield wipers need replaced, you think "well, ten dollars at walmart, no big deal." Nope, you must buy the ones specially designed for VW and those cost thirty two dollars. All parts for VW, at least the Beetle, cost about two or three times as much as any other car.
