Question what could be the situation on my Jetta 2003 gls manual transmission (6) I did park in my garage and now I can moved it, It gets in to the gear but when I let the clutch out my car acts like there is the parking break on, and is not even in neutral, any idea what could be the problem ?
Answer Hi Carlos;
Is this car a 5 speed, or a six speed? All GLS Jetta's came with a 5-speed from the factory. Did someone install a 6-speed in your car, or is it a GLI? VR6? 1.8T? No matter. The linkage isn't hooked up anymore. There is a cable that has come off of the linkage. Look for that first. There is a piece that looks like a 1/4 moon. It has a nylon/plastic liner in it...(to keep it quiet)...anyway, find the cable end, and it will be off of the "gear selector." It's right on top, of the transmission, right under, and behind the battery.
