Question
hi steve i am a student of IIT KANPUR and i am playing as a lifter in our team actually my prob is though i can finger the ball nicely when done with a partner standing in front of net but whenever i receive a pass from a libero i cannot place the  ball in its right place either it gets too wide from net or it goes negative my accuracy in lifting the ball is not that what is demanded from a setter .since we dont have any options i hav to perform this job for my team and i too really want to do this please help me out

Answer
Anav,

It is really easy to set a ball when it is tossed.  The ball is always at the same height, tossed at the same speed and most of the times it is tossed so you don't have to move.  You need to practice setting off a pass and stop setting off a toss.  The more reps you take the more accurate you will become.  Make sure you get to the ball quickly so that you are there before the ball and you are in a good position to set.

Keep on working with the libero and you will see improvement.

Steve
