Question Okay, I am on my school volleyball team, and for our first game, I was a starter which I guess means that I start off the game with 5 other players on the court. In the second game, I wasn't a starter. Does that mean that I wasn't good enough to be a starter? Is being a starter a thing for the better players? Please answer my question as soon as you can!!!
Answer Michael,
There are a bunch of variables here. First off the best person to ask this question would be your coach because he/she is the one who made this decision.
Here are some reasons why you may not have started the second game.
And remember you really didn't give me any information so this is all guess work.
1) The team you were playing wasn't very good and the coach wanted to play everyone.
2) You only play front row (or back row) and he rotated the line-up.
3) You made a number of mistakes and he wanted to see another player at that position.
4) He wasn't sure who the starter were going to be so he wanted to see more players.
The starters are usually the best player at doing something. Say you have three middles and two hit well on one blocks very well. The blocking middle may start over one of the middles who hit well if the coach thinks that blocking one of the guys on the other team is more important than offense.
