Question I am one of the setters on my U14 club volleyball team. There are 4 setters in total and at our last practice my coach told us that she will be choseing 1 or maybe 2 setters to set for the rest of the season. I think I am in the top 2 but really want to improve. I already set against a wall and serve against a wall. But I was wondering what I can do to improve my skills and be more likley to be able to set for the season.
Answer Alyssa,
Get a partner and practice setting to a person. Setting against the wall may be a good warm up but it will not get you to the next level.
Work with a partner and heave her pass you a ball to your left, right, short and long so you can practice getting to the ball to make a good set. Any practice you do off a toss and then off a pass will help you a lot. If you can get into a gym set a hitter or a simulated hitter. The more good quality reps you can get the better.
