Volleyball/Spiking: When to start the approach?

Question
Hi,  I am also a high school math teacher.  My question is my daughter is having trouble with her spiking the coach says she jumps to early.  How can this be corrected?  He never helps her just benches her and tells to to fix it.  She has lost her starting middle hitter position because she always spikes into the top of the net.  She has tried after the set to wait until a count of two.  she has moved back on her approach.  Nothing so far has helped and she is getting frustrated.

Answer
Good morning and welcome to www.allexperts.com.  I'm sorry it's taken me longer than normal to answer your question.  I'm swamped with 8 consecutive camps, and my junior team is leaving for Nationals next Thursday!!  So it's a pretty busy time!!

My answer to your question became so long that I'm going to use it as an article for Dave Cross's Gold Members at www.yesIcansports.com.  However, I will share this article with anyone who will email me at coachhouser@yahoo.com.

Thanks again for visiting www.allexperts.com.   I hope that you and I run into each other during Nationals, or maybe at a camp this summer.  And please visit www.coachhouser.com. I think you'll like the pictures of my math classes. They sure are smiling!!

Expertise

I can answer any type of volleyball question: middle school, high school, college, club, coaching, playing, etc. (I am not, however, a athletic trainer! If you have a knee, ankle, back, etc. question, I'm sorry, but please search for another expert.)

Please ask a question only if you check your email like every day! It's been really surprising to me that many answers are never read. Can you believe that between Sept 1, 2011 and Jan 1, 2012, nineteen of my responses have never been read? This is so odd to me.

I will almost always answer your question within 24 hours.

You may also email me anytime at coachhouser@yahoo.com! I'd enjoy hearing from you!

TEENAGERS: Please check your email tomorrow. I will probably have answered your question by then. :)

Then, one last favor: please grade my answer!
