Question I played vb all through middle school and high school - I'm 24 now and have been out of the game for a while. I am coaching a junior high team this fall and need some refreshers. I still have my skills for the most part - so I can teach them - but I'm not sure how to organize a practice and also should I be setting up a 6-2 or any setting formations this early? I'm not sure what to be doing with the setter.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Answer Janette,
At the jh level you are probably going to spend a great deal of time working on skills. So I would plan on spending a couple of weeks passing and serving. The first week do as many passing/defensive drills as you can remember. As you know if you can't pass you can't win (or do much of anything else). Work in the other aspects of the game in the next week.
As far as the setter goes....do you know who you have already? Is your JH ready to play a 6-2? Do you have two setters that are good and do you have 6 hitters? Lst me know a little more about your team and setters so I can get a better idea on what youare looking at.
