Question
My daughter was a gymnast for 9 years. She is 13 and looking at trying out for volleyball. She made the Jr. High team last year and broke her finger the first practice after making the team. When is it to late to play if you want to play high school ball?
Thanks

Answer
Kim-
Very good question.  It is never too late to start playing volleyball.  Granted, I teach and coach at a small school, but this past year, I had a middle blocker who was a Junior, and never played a game of volleyball in her life.  She ended up being our team's Most Improved Player.  She did it all on athletic ability and her williness to learn.  Athletes are athletes and will learn new skills quickly.  Gymnastics requires a lot of discipline and that should lend well towards your duaghter's success in volleyball.  Try to play again next year and she can get one year under her belt before HS.  Good Luck!
Jeff
