Question I am an 8th grade volleyball coach. I have a parent (who also has a player who is a junior)wondering what kinds of things they should be doing to get thier daughter ready for college level ball. Also what kinds of stats and stuff is it good to have.
Thanks
Megan
Answer Megan,
The daughter MUST play club ball. If she does not she will have a really hard time getting seen and she will lose out an months of valuable practice and game time.
She needs to get into a weight/fitness program so she increases her strength and mobility. As far as stats go, we at Fordham University don't really look at high school stats much because some coaches make mistakes (usually on the up side). Stats that are very important are hitting percentage.........kills - errors attempts = hitting percentage.
She also needs to make a skills/game tape/DVD. Send the tape to as many colleges that she is interested in or she thinks she can play at. Also go to summer camp at a school that she may want to go to.
