Question
1999 V70, rear hatch works fine ,locks and unlocks etc. The issue is the door open light is on for the hatch at all times now and the computer won't allow the alarm system to activate because it thinks( if you will) that the door is open.Question..is the contact ,switch or whatever internal on the latch or somewhere else (equally difficult to get to)?

There is a micro switch in the hatch lock assembly that has gone bad. I believe that the micro switch is available, however the entire latch is mostly always replaced, as it is easier. Visit your Volvo dealer and see if that micro switch is still available.
