Subject: Locks/fuse blows: car won't start

Question
I have a 2000 Volvo XC. I just had it in to my Euro-car repairman to see what the various lights were saying on the dash (Service, etc.) Nothing too significant.
Now, when I took the car home the next day and drove it about 2 miles, but locked and unlocked it twice, the car wouldn't start after I came out of the grocery store. We figured out that if you lock and unlock the car, it blows the fuse (#6 I believe) that also shuts the car down. What can I do about this besides not lock it up? I have changed the fuse myself a few times already, and this does the trick. I do not have a remote for the locks. (The car was used.) Did the repairman do something? It never occurred before he looked the car over.

Answer
Mary Ann,
I can not really say who/what is responsible for the fuse blowing. However you will need to get the car looked at to see whay the fuse is blowing. If you trust your favorite Euro shop take it to him, and if he did do something by accident he may remember and be able to repair it quickly. Your other choice is a different shop. Make sure that the shop you use has Volvo experence, that way they will have the tools and scanners to access the system. There is a place onlyremotes.com that might be able (other that the dealer) to help get you a remote.
