Question
QUESTION: the original Pirelli pzero tires wore out at 7200 mi. I replaced with michelin pilot a/s in the same size as original. The michelins do not fill out the edge of the rims so I have scraped the rims up.  Is there a tire that fits like the originals but provide better mileage like the michelins?

ANSWER: Jim,
I am not real sure that other tire manufactures make tires that have the extra at the bead area. I think that might be a Trademark of Pirelli. Call some tire dealers and get their opinions. Try the "tire rack" web site.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Since this is an issue, I am considering getting 1/8" or more turned from the outer edge of the rims then painted.  I have heard that these rims are prone to cracks but with the tires inflated to 40 lb. I do not think this will be a problem.  What do you think?

Answer
Jim,
Personally I have not heard of any wheels cracking. Although maybe not a problem in my region. I am not sure what you mean by getting 1/8" turned from the rim? If you are actually cutting or trimming the rim, I would not advise that. I am not sure what that might do to the integrity of the wheel.
