Volvo - Engine Light On

Expert: Ray Niemi - 7/6/2009

Question
I have a 2004 S60 T5 volvo with around 160,000 km, I have had alot of problems with this car but know the engine light is on again and I had a friend that has a scanner scan it and it comes up with P1171 code. Could you please tell me what does it mean.

Answer
Dilia,
The code you have provided is not on the list of fault codes. One that is close is P0171   System Too Lean (Bank 1). That might be a faulty HO2S or a vacuum leak or an intercooler hose leak. Best thing is to get to a shop that has the Volvo test tools so they can read the codes in the manufacture's code list. It would be a more clear and accurate listing.
