This is an old posting but for others researching 850s and ac units, I want to note that we have had three new ac units in our 1994 850 only the first being under warranty. And we have only done 70,000 miles!

Yeah, My dealer service manager told me it was a flaw in that years model. The Evaporator. I just (march 2011) bought my 94' 850... Previous owner kept great records. This will be the 4th Evaporator at 130,000 miles. :(
