Experience I am a Certified Volvo Tech at in Independent Volvo Repair shop. I grew up around Volvos and decided I wanted to do it professionally. I worked at the dealer for about a year then I went to work at an Independent shop which I have been with for 10 years.
Question lately, my Volvo has been acting out, it refuses to start even though the light comes on and it kicks but doesn't ignite at all. At last i saw a sign on the dashboard that says "check manual for immobilizer", can u tell me what is the problem? I took it to the mechanic's the other day, he couldn't find any fault. It started at the mechanic's after been parked for a day but when i brought it home, the problem began.
Answer barba, Of course that mechanic isnt going to know anything about that. There is a issue with the key or key reader which is also called the immobilizer. There is a battery in the key and since its 7 years old, the battery is starting to get weak. This is something that only the Volvo dealer or Volvo shop that has the equipment to scan and correct the issue. Most likely it will be the key. Make an appointment with the dealer and have it fixed.
