Question I have a 1990 volvo 240 DL.
my wife ran over a parking bump and the car had to be towed. when the car is pushed you can hear a "knocking" sound. the car stills runs like it did. I have been told that the mounts may be broken and the motor has fallen slightly to create the knocking sound. What do I nee to do to replace the mounts if this is the problem
Answer Kevin, It may be the drive shaft cushion or the Trans mount. You wont know until you inspect it. It is possible that the mounts collapsed but highly unlikely to make that noise. Its somewhere in the drivetrain. A Jack and airtools would help if you are planning on doing this on the ground. You may want a Volvo shop to take a look at it for you. It may be worse when they put it up in the air. Roger
