Question I have a 2001 XC70 with 162K miles. This the battery warning light came on an the "El system service required" message came on. The car starts fine but the dashboard and from lights fluctuate. I think it is a bad voltage regulator that I can see is attached to the alternator, but the volvo dealer says I need a new alternator since the regulator is built in. Is it easy for me to r/r the regulator to see if it is that? Do you think it is the alternator?
Answer you can change the regulator you have to remove alternator from the car but by that miles you have i would put new alternator from Volvo original part aftermarket or different stores will be cheaper in parts but it will not be as long and good as Volvo part i hope this helps you
