Question My '01 Volvo S80 died last nite-I was jumped off & took the car to dealer -battery replaced. I rec'd a call from the dealer stating that when the service tech drove the car out of the garage he noted that the AC wasn't working. He claimed it needed a new climate control head to the tune of $1200.00. AC was working beautifully prior to them working on the car. I was told that when a car is jumped off it can blow the circuit in the climate control head. If this was the case, wouldn't the AC have quit working when I had it jumped off the night before? Any recommendations? Thank you.
Answer are you from Chicago if yes i can help you .if not you can try this go do different Volvo dealer and try to do climate control RELOAD software and central electronic module UPGRADE software this will erase all memory from climate control unit and RE reprogram it with new software i had many times luck fixing problems like yours like that .problem is to many computer in car small electronic problem takes them out not only Volvo any car.also try this before the software go in the trunk disconnect battery from the car take the cables from plus and minus tape them together for 30 min and the reconnect to the battery and try if it comes back with battery reset if not try software will cost you around $250-$350 parts and labor
