Expert: Volvo Mechanic Chicago - 6/13/2009

Question
I have an V70 2.4 automatic
The transmission service light has come on. How do i change the transmission fluid ?? There is no info in the service manual other than the type required ie. 1161540-8

Is this a job for a novice or do i need to take it to Volvo ??

you have to find out what is wrong why the light is on you have to scan the fault codes in transmission module by Volvo dealer will tell you more what is maybe a sensor, wire  or internal problem transmission   i don't thing fluid is the problem plus the fluid is very expensive  around $140  here in USA and there is NO interval to replace oil in transmission from Volvo only if you tow/pull something with you car like a car trailer etc..than yes
