Question My girlfriend has a V70 wagon, 2002, and the cup holder in the dash next to the radio is broken, won't retract. I would like to remove it for repair or replacement, and wonder how it is held in place?

Answer I would replace it.if you look into the holder on the top and bottom of it there is a tab you can put a screwdriver beside the top tab while pulling the holder outward and pry this tab upwards do the same for the tab on the bottom.you may have to repeat the process to each tab sometimes the first pry on the tab is not enough.the other way to remove it is to remove the pencil holder below the climate controls then remove 2 torx 25 screws holding climate unit in then pry the bottom of the unit outward and upward about 3 inches then push the bottom back down and pry on the top side of the climate panel to release it from the bottom of the radio.then remove the 2 torx 25 screwws holding the radio in then you can pull the radio and cup holder out at the same time.
