AboutScott Demaree Expertise I can answer questions about training, physiology, nutrition, technique, equipment and injury prevention. My background is not medical, so I will not be able to answer detailed questions about injury treatment. However, during 30 years of endurance exercise I have had a few injuries so I feel qualified to talk about things that have worked for me and others.
Experience I have been a long distance runner since 1978 and took up racewalking in 1982. More recently, I have worked as a certified personal trainer helping people with a wide range of exercise needs. Last year, I coached several people to successfully finish the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Dallas (60 miles in three days).

Question Hi,
I used to walk on the track or around the lake until about 3 years ago. I just turned 50. I had a tummy tuck about a year and a half ago and really never got back into my walking and exercising. So I got a treadmill and about a week ago got on and walked for 30 minutes and had 2 lb. weights I used for my arms while I walked. I did the walking 30 minutes the next 2 days but without the weights. I know I should have started slower but I just enjoyed it so much! Well of course I paid the price. I was so sore and just felt strange the next few days. I have had left lower rib soreness especially when touched and also these kind of stinging little pains in different areas of my body. Do you know if that would be from the sudden exercise? I walked again but only for 15 minutes a few days after that and will slowly work up to where I want to be but these stingers I call them are really bugging me. Just a little sudden burning spot on my arm, hip, rib etc.
Answer These symptoms are unfamiliar to me, except for the sore ribs, maybe, if you were breathing very hard.
The best advice I could give would be to see a good chiropractor. If the condition is beyond his/her expertise, you should be referred to the proper care.
