Subject: January rates...

Question
3 of my friends and I are looking to take a trip in January 2008 down to Disney World. I know rates are not up yet, but we want to start saving as much as possible so we can take this trip.

My question is- we are thinking of going January 4-10...is that an "off time" for Disney? I've been there 6 times, but each time I went, it was either in late October or early December, and i know both of those times are "slow" for Disney. (whatever slow is...)

If January 4-10 isn't an off-season time, what is a good time? We are on break from college classes December 12-January 11. We can't miss classes, and we are trying to find the CHEAPEST time possible to go during our winter break. We want to stay for about a week as well, because none of my friends have ever been to Disney, so we want to have plenty of time to cover everything.

I'm pretty much a "Disney nerd" and I've been looking into this for a while...I figured get just the basic Magic Your Way ticket with no park hopper or water park option and no dining plan.

So to sum it up- 4 people. Staying in a value resort. Just a base ticket. Sometime between December 12-January 11. What's the cheapest way to go?

Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi -

Thanks for checking with us.  You are right, the 2009 rates are not out yet but based on 2008, here is some information for you.

Dec. 12-18 and January 1 - Feb 13 are all value season.  Keep in mind January 8 - 10 is Marathon Weekend in Disney, so the crowds will go up.  I would consider right when you get out of school on the 12th, you can book that now and enjoy all the holiday fun.  The room is $82 a night + $10 extra per adult for the 3rd and 4th person + tax

5 day pass - $228.98
6 day pass - $231.11
7 day pass - $233.24

This is for one park per day, expiring 14 days from first use.

There is also a chance a promotion code could come out (most likely around October) that could be applied to your reservation.

Have a magical time
Sandy
