AboutSara Expertise I can answer questions on most things to do with Walt Disney World - the resorts, the 4 major parks, the restaurants and the Disney Cruise Line.
Experience I have stayed at or been to 90% of the resorts, ridden virtually every ride, eaten at many restaurants - both sit-down and counter service and cruised on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. I have traveled to Walt Disney World over 10 times and plan vacations for myself as well as friends and family every year.

Question My 14 year old daughter and I will be traveling to Orlando next year in the beginning of May since we thought that it would be less crowded. We've only been to Disney World once, and we only went for three days. This time we're planning on staying for a week. Since we haven't spent very much time there, we don't really know about better options. For example...
Is it better to book a hotel outside of the Disney ground or inside? Something clean and nice would be good, but also not too expensive.
Is it worth getting the Magic Your Way Dining Plan or should we get the basic one?
And also, are there any tips you can give us such as where we should eat while in the parks, etc.?
Thanks,
Liliana
Answer Sounds like a fun trip!
Unless you plan on renting a car, I absolutely recommend staying at a Disney resort. A value resort such as All Star Movies can usually be found at that time of year for under $100/night. Plus the benefits that come with staying onsite make it well worth it - access to Disney transportation, Extra Magic Hours, etc.
For the dining plan, it depends. This is also only available to Disney resort guests. Check out www.allears.net which has menus for all the resorts, look at what you might order and add up a day's total. If it's more than $37.99 per person per day (the cost of the basic Dining Plan) then the plan probably makes sense. Looking at the menus will also help you decide where to eat.
I highly recommend picking up a guidebook such as PassPorter to help with your planning. Also a good travel agent will help you not only book your resort but also make your dining reservations for you. Good luck!
