Walt Disney World - new years at disney

Question
i have heard different stories of the parks being filled to capacity at this time, thus leaving people outside unable to enjoy the parks.  ive read different people saying the parks are a lot like the summer at this time (crowd) but we have been there the last 5 summers and this has never been an issue.  im sure it is recommended to get to the parks early, but with 2 small children naps are necessary and i dont want to leave the park with the possibility of not getting back in or having to wait a significant amount of time.  also i know money is a little bit tighter right now with the economy, is it a foregone conclusion that there is the possibility of attendance being down this year?  Thanks in advance for your time in responding to my questions

Answer
Craig,

The parks have been know to close by 10 am, this time of year and not open again. I did talk to a disney castmember recently and was told if you stand outside the gate and someone leaves they do let someone else in, however I would not want to just stand out there and wait. We will have the same issue this holiday season, I have a small child that still requires naps so we decided we will get to the parks early and do what we can do before heading back for a nap, if we can't get back in we are going to the resorts to see all of their beautiful decorations (they also have holiday activities). In years past MK has set their new year fireworks off on both the 30th and 31st. I don't think the economy will have an impact on the crowds at Disney, we were there in June and didn't see a difference in crowds. I belong to a Disney forum and there are many posts of people who are going during the holidays, it would be nice for those of us who will be there if crowds were down, but I am not expecting it. If I can help any further please let me know. Have a magical trip and holiday season!!
