I can answer just about anything relating to the Florida Disney parks - including the resorts & Downtown Disney. As a Disney Vacation Club member, I`m very familiar with that program as well. I love the resorts as much as the theme parks - especially the attention to detail and the friendly service provided

Question
Bringing my 6 year old granddaughter & 3 year old grandson for the 1st time to Walt Disney World, 12/26 thru 1/2/10.  Any special things going on that you can recommend.  We are staying at All Star Movies Preferred.  6 year old trying to save for a 2010 Walt Disney World trip.  She has even asked for money for her trip from Sant.  This is going to be a Christmas surprise for them.

Answer
Hi Marie,

I really don't want to rain on your parade, but did you realize you're there the single busiest week of the year???  Seriously - it's disgustingly mobbed, with long lines for everything.  Expect the Magic Kingdom to close (filled to capacity) by 11am several mornings.  You couldn't pay me to be there then - I've done it and won't repeat it.  The popular rides will have lines that literally will be 3 HOURS or longer.  It's just insane!  Unless you're a teacher or something that can only take that week off, I strongly urge you to change your dates and go earlier in the month (be out of there before Christmas).  A 6 year old is not going to be doing anything in school that can't be missed or made up.

To answer your question on special things.....besides the unbelievable lines for everything from the buses to food court to theme park attractions - there's the Christmas parade each afternoon in the Magic Kingdom, the Candlelight Processional & Lights of Winter at Epcot, and the Osborne Lights at Hollywood Studios.  The parade at Animal Kingdom is modified to include holiday theming.  All of this can be seen in early December except for the MK Christmas parade, though - with a quarter of the crowd.

Since this is a Christmas surprise, perhaps book a trip in January.  Unless your 6 and 3 year old grandkids will be happy standing in line for an hour to 3 hours for a short ride...give serious thought to changing your dates.
