Question Hi Ron, Planning first trip to DW with husband and 3 daughters, 10, 7 and 3 in January for a week. Arrive 11:30 am, staying at the Poly. Considering two options for first day: Late lunch at Chef Mickeys, then MK for spectro parade and wishes or explore the hotel, dinner at Chef Mickeys, wishes on the poly beach. Excited to start trip off in a big way, but concerned about tiring out the kids too early in the trip. What do you think? Thank you!
Answer We have always used the first day to get prepared and rested for our trip - a lot depends on how long your stay is and how much traveling you have to do to get there.
We sort of have a tradition each trip - our first day is ... check in, get unpacked and then hang out in the hotel and maybe take a dip in the pool then rest a bit to go to dinner (we always eat in EPCOT the first night) and then maybe catch a parade or light show.
That way we are always rested (especially the kids) for the next day for an early start at the Magic Kingdom.
Explorering th ehotel is a fantastic idea (especially if you never stayed there before) most of the resorts offer some in house fun things to do. One thing is to go on a Hidden Mickey hunt in the resort and if you are having trouble finding any hidden mickeys be sure to ask the front desk for some tips. You can even print out a list of the hidden mickeys to help the kids look for them
