Walt Disney World - Family trip Dec 2009, The Grand Floridain
Expert: Sibahan Sanders - 11/2/2009
Question I'll be 6 months pregnant traveling with my husband, mother, 5yr old daughter and 1yr old son. We will staying at the grand floridian. How kid friendly is the hotel? Are the rooms large enough for the five of us? What parks do you recommend for the little one's? As for the water parks, is my son too small to enjoy them? How is the weather in dec ? Will we need warm clothing or shorts and tee's?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Answer Disney in it self, is all kid friendly. However, the Grand is not as kid friendly as the rest of the hotels.. There is not as much for the kids to do, as there is in some of the others. My experience has been the Cheaper the hotel, the more for the kids.. although they all have their different quirks.
The rooms will be a little tight with 3 adults, and the little kids. I am sure you will need a crib for the 1 yr old, which might make it a little tighter. Its not unbearable thou. The little ones will love Magic Kingdom. They will love some of the things at Hollywood studios also (disney studios) like Playhouse Disney, and the little mermaid. The water parks, will probably not be your best choice at that time of the year. It can be cold. It can be warm also. Dec is just not a good time for that. You can enjoy the pool at your hotel instead i would suggest. You will need warm clothes for night time. We usually go each year in early Jan, so we are used to this time of the year. I can tell you last time we went.. in Jan, we had the Heat on for 2 nights, and the AC for 3 nights. Its weird! We always packed a backpack with jackets in them, for the evening hours. I packed mostly capri pants for me and my daughter. It was a happy medium. Hope that helps a little.. We did mostly tshirts for the day.. with the jackets..
Good luck! Have fun!
