AboutMichael Corbo Expertise I was a moderator and chat host for the Walt Disney Boards on America Online and currently with www.themouseforless.com Have been to Disneyworld 25 times in the last 10 years and stayed on sight at many of the resorts, eaten in a lot of the restaurants and cruised on the Disney Magic and Wonder several times. I specialize in getting the most for your money and trying to get the best discounts on airfare, rooms, tickets and restaurants for vacations to Disneyworld. Question This is our first time to Disney. Should I buy tickets on line prior to getting to Walt Disney? Should I have them sent to my home or hotel or should I buy them from the hotel directly? We are staying at the Hilton Walt Disney World. Does the hotel have an ample supply of all types of tickets? I have looked at several websites DWTickets, KGS, Orlandofuntickets, mapleleaf.com which are cheaper than the hotel rate but not sure if all are reputable or if this is the way to go.
Groceries: We would like to buy some bottled water and some beer to keep in the room. I understand the place onsite is very expensive. Is there a Winn Dixie or Publix within walking distance? If not do you know how much a cab would be. I have heard people ship water, beer and food to the hotel. Do you know how I would go about doing that?
Shoes: What would be the most comfortable shoes to wear.
Thank you.
Answer Buy your tickets from a reputable broker on line before you go. You will save some money, and the hotels may not have tickets with all the days or options that you want. Orlandofuntickets and maple leaf are 2 that I have dealt with before and are reputable.
There is a Goodings Supermarket just outside Downtown Disney in the Crossroads Shopping center. By foot, it would be about a mile or so. There is a Publix about 3/4 of a mile further up route 535. I am not familiar with cab rates, but I would imagine that it would not be too expensive.
There are a few grocery services that will shop for you and deliver to the hotel. One that I have used is wegoshop.com. If you only needed water, a lot of people order from staples and have it delivered to the hotel.
As far as shoes, I always go with a broken in pair of New Balance sneakers. Never wear new shoes. A lot of people swear by Crocs at the parks, I have never tried them. I have used a pedometer to track mileage walking and have logged anywhere from 4-10 miles PER DAY!
