Question We are a cosmetics company in Dubai, this is my 1st time to work as a WareHouse Manager. Our main products are Nouba an italian based cosmetics company and this is our website www.grosetotrading.com
we'll be having a board meeting from the Suppliers of Nouba and Clients from all over the Middle East and Africa. I've been told to create a presentation of the warehouse abd i have no idea how to go about it since its just the 4th month since is started working here. i have ideas like we need more space and the local shipping agents damaging our products when there are any deliveries and we need more stock but i don't have an idea how to compile it in a presentation. That's why I've been on the Internet looking for ideas and clues and i stumbled upon this site. i went through all the questions and replies and i must admit you guys are doing a very good job. thanking you in advance hoping my question and your kind replies will also help others.
Answer Hi there,
Prior to your request on what might be a good presentation as a warehouse manager for your supplier and clients. This is what that came into my mind. I am not sure is the presentation will be a one-to-one basis with the supplier or client or a general for all.
For the clients, the presentation should contain the "attraction" for having them to choose you as a support for their product - much like a "sale kit presentation", mentioning about your facilities, services, the availablity of space and the effective turn-around cycle once an order has been dropped/purchased. You might need to gather data with regards to your warehouse operation efficiency and present to them about your general warehouse operation, the security measure (as letting the client beware that their products are in good hands)
For the suppliers, an ideal practice would be JIT concept or VMI hub where min. inventory should be roped into the warehouse to refrain from "flooding" your warehouse. Thus, presenting your constraint to the suppliers and also seek better lead time on drop-shipment purchase, putting the ball onto your supplier's court which in turn minimise your inventory at your end while having the sufficient supply for your clients / forecasted sales.
For your mgt, a good report/presentation on how the operation has been running for the last 4 months, with yoru inbound & outbound vol., presenting expected sales/purchase vol. (data could be collected from sales/procurement) thus making analysis on the efficiency of the oepration and whether there is a need to expand further and what might be the constraints from the mgt point.
Hope the above few pointers might give you some ideas on how you can go about presenting your warehouse for the respective personnel.
