Question I work in a surgical supply warehouse. The items are stored mostly in cardboard bin boxes and kept on 2 x 4 ft galvanized shelving. Approximately 3,000 sq. ft. The problem is dust. Usually when the dock door or shipping door is opened dust enters. We have been asked the clean the shelving every 3 months. There are only two of us in the warehouse. What are some steps we can take to keep the dust out of the warehouse and keep the dust to a minimum?

My suggestion would be to install either a blower above the door that would kick on when the door is open or to install a "strip door", clear plastic strips that hang in front of the opening. Both of these would serve several purposes: keep out much of the dust, keep out flying insects and also moderate the temperature if the stock area is being heated or cooled.
