Question
I am new in warehousing and was wondering if you could help.  In our warehouse if a selctor goes to a pick slot and no product is there it is shorted, then after all the bills are completed the shorts are then ran wich adds hours to the shift.  Any ideas on how to better handle the shorted items during the shift versues running them at the end?

Answer
The best answer is to improve your inventory accuracy so that you only have the pickers going to slots with product. You may still have an occasional shortage but they will be drastically reduced. Second, have your pickers note shorts and periodically give them to a supervisor they can be worked on during the shift instead of the end.
