About Michael Bouchard Expertise Ski Boats and Wake Board Boats - Maintenance, Buying, Comparing. Questions on Barefooting, Waterskiing, and Wakeboarding.
Experience I've been skiing for 32 years, barefooting for 10, and wakeboarding for 10. I have competed in tournaments and have also run tournaments. I own a Ski Boat Dealership and have a lot of experience with many different types of ski boats.
Question I'm trying to research boats and I thought you might be able to help. What type of boat can carry eight to ten people, provides a quality skiing expierience, and can be used for an occasional weekend fishing trip? Thank you for your time.
Answer I only ski and wakeboard behind true inboard ski-boats. There are a lot of advantages like safety, less draft, consistent pull that inboard/outboards and outboards do not have.
Typicaly people never fish from these boats - they are apportioned very nicely and are not setup for the abuses fishing places on a boat interior.
With this being said - there are a few inboard boats out there that do have removable carpet - and easily handling the number of people requested. This is also advantageous to you because the less expensive inboard boats are typicaly the ones that are better suited for fishing and more interior abuse.
Look for removable carpet - or no carpet ski/wakeboard boats. Below are some you might want to check out:
Gekko
Moomba
Centurion
MasterCraft
All the others I know about have wall-to-wall carpeting.
