Waterskiing - One-Footed Start

Expert: April - 8/12/2001

Question
Im am wondering if you could explain to me how to do a one-footed start, not a deep water start but a normal shore start?

Answer
Mike,
It depends on the type of boat you are using.  With a normal inboard ski boat you should simply idle the boat out until the rope is almost tight.  As the driver then accelerates you should time a push off with your free foot as the rope gets tight.  DON'T JUMP TOO SOON!  That is the biggest mistake.  Good Luck and hope this helps.  April Coble Eller
